Top 5 Tips to Get the Most out of your Wedding Spray Tan

The big day is almost here. You’ve sent the invitations, secured a venue, and curated the food menu. Your dress is chosen, hair, makeup and nail appointments have been set. Now let’s talk about your spray tan. A beautifully bronzed complexion is the perfect compliment to your final look on your wedding day.

Here are my top five tips to achieving the perfect spray tan for your special day:

1. Schedule Your Spray Tan Trial

Schedule a trial tan at least one month before your wedding spray tan, and verify that your date is available for your final tan. Just as you’ve planned your hair and makeup trial, planning your tanning trial is crucial to ensuring you get exactly what you want on your wedding day. A trial allows you to test different shades and allows ample time to make any adjustments. We also want to make sure you have enough time between your trial and final tan for the first tan to fade completely before we do your final spray tan. This is imperative to achieving a fresh, and flawless look.

2. Schedule Your Final Spray Tan

Schedule your spray tan so that your appointment occurs two days prior to your ceremony. This will allow you to have a couple showers before wearing your dress and your tan will have time to set and be developed to its peak potential. Don’t wait until the last minute to schedule. Secure your date early.

3. Properly Schedule Your Other Beauty Appointmens

Make sure all of your other beauty appointments are completed at least one day before your spray tan. Additionally, make sure your spray tan appointment is the only service you have scheduled that day. Other beauty services, such as manis, pedis, lashes and waxing will affect your tan’s development and quality.

4. Consider Your Chosen Color and Shade

Consider your chosen color against your white dress. Going dark isn’t always the best, in fact, it’s almost always recommended to keep things light and natural. You will look more tan in your white dress and going too dark will really stand out. Most brides prefer a natural tone as opposed to the “I’ve been at the beach for 2 weeks” look. Now, I understand that there are those who love being dark, and if that’s your request I got your back. Just don’t forget that trial!

5. Avoid Sunburns and Tan Lines

Don’t get a sunburn or develop tan lines before your final tan. Tan lines can never be perfectly blended and we cannot spray sunburned or peeling skin. Be extra diligent about wearing sunscreen and covering up when you are in sun. Trust me. Avoid the disappointment of missing out on your spray tan because of these factors.

And that’s it. Proper planning is key to achieving the perfect spray tan on the day you’ve been forever dreaming of.
